The first gig of the season took place on Saturday 27th May, with no fewer than 4 new members making their 'debut' with the band.
The weather forecast changed as the weekend approached, so rather than playing in the No1 uniforms, as originally planned, it was decided that No2 uniforms would be the order of the day. As it turned out, the weather was not as hot as expected. It was overcast, but apart from a few drops of rain before the start of the parade, the weather stayed fair.
